Puttenahalli lake – YELAHANKA – little known birding spot near Bangalore

There are TWO Puttenahalli lakes !

The more famous one being in JP Nagar which is the subject of my next post.
There’s a compact yet avian rich lake in Yelahanka.
DIRECTIONS: On the Yelahanka – Doddbalapur road, once you get past Rail Wheel factory, ask for Ramanashree California Resorts. Well, just before the resort, you will find a shopping complex and a small gate indicating a Forest dept. office.
No questions asked. They seem to be familiar with DSLR wielding warriors !
And inside you find a copious capture of painted storks, ibises, pond herons, spot billed ducks and a good deal of migratory birds during Oct – Feb.
Here are some clicks.
